Leek

Leek is a market town in Staffordshire, about ten miles from Stoke-on-Trent at the foot of the Peak District National Park. It is known as the Queen of the Moorlands. Leek was granted a royal charter in 1214 and later became a major manufacturing centre for silk and other textiles. It was home to the former Britannia Building Society and is now the base for Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The current population of Leek is about 20,000.
