Seven defendants in North Staffordshire magistrates

Here are the latest cases from the region's courts:

LEEK: Thief Steven Cooper has been hit with a 67.94 court bill. The 51-year-old, of Ball Haye Green, Leek, admitted two charges of theft from the Post Office in Leek on February 17 this year. Prosecutor Alisha Collins told North Staffordshire Justice Centre Cooper stole six packs of glue sticks worth 1.99 each and two handbags, worth 49.99 and 29.99. A staff member stopped him as he left and the bags were recovered. David Ellis, mitigating, said Cooper was fined in March for a similar matter. Magistrates fined Cooper 40 and ordered him to pay 11.94 compensation and a 16 surcharge.

MEIR: Fifty-nine-year-old Susan Bailey, of Stanton Road, Meir, denied theft from the person of another between April 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025. North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard Bailey is alleged to have stolen 102,580 from her sister. District Judge Joseph O'Connor sent the case to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court where Bailey will appear on September 7. She was bailed.

SHELTON: Three men charged with violent disorder in Howard Place, Shelton, between April 15 and 18, 2024, have had their case adjourned. Karam Khaleel, aged 79, of St John Street, Hanley, Mohamed Hasan, aged 27, of Meyrick Road, Bournemouth, and Karwan Ali, aged 31, of Westport Road, Burslem, will next appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on September 8.

BLYTHE BRIDGE: Eighteen-year-old Joseph McNally, of HMP Brinsford, denied threatening to damage property in Blythe Bridge on November 16, 2025. His trial will be held at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on November 30. He was bailed on this matter but remains in custody.

CHEADLE: Twenty-four-year-old Harry Welsh, of Hurst Yard, Bank Street, Cheadle, denied two charges of criminal damage on March 8 this year. His trial will be held at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on September 2 and his bail was extended.
