A fleeing motorist reportedly went the wrong way down the A500 during a police chase. And a dog handler was also brought in as the incident came to an end after it was again seen in Hanford.
Now police in the city have confirmed a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences. Cops say the Audi had failed to stop for cops in Longton and 'attempted to evade officers by dangerously driving the wrong way down the A500.'
However it was later surrounded with the police dog deployed. A spokesperson for the policing team said: "The vehicle was spotted shortly after in the Hanford area, where officers quickly initiated a pursuit. Thanks to swift coordination, the car was successfully stung, boxed in, and brought to a safe stop."
Officers say the driver tried to flee with a police dog bringing 'the chase to an end'. Subsequently a suspect was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, drug driving, dangerous driving, driving otherwise that in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance.
A spokesperson added: "The vehicle has been seized and investigations remain ongoing."
