A man was flown to hospital with 'potentially life-threatening injuries' after an A53 crash saw a car end up in a field. Three ambulances, the air ambulance, and police were scrambled to Buxton Road through Upper Hulme to reports a vehicle had left the road.
And during the height of yesterday's (December 17) incident the road was shut off as witnesses had spotted three ambulances going along the A53 in Stoke-on-Trent towards the Moorlands. Now West Midlands Ambulance has confirmed one of the passengers, a man, was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with 'potentially life-threatening injuries'.
Meanwhile the driver and second passenger, also men, sustained 'less serious injuries' and were treated on scene before going to the Royal Stoke too. The alarm was raised just after 3.35pm.
The service sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the collision. A spokeswoman said: "Ambulance crews arrived to find a car which had left the road and was in a field. The three occupants, all men, were assessed.
"One man, a passenger, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and received trauma care by the team of ambulance staff before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care. The driver and second passenger sustained less serious injuries and were treated on scene before being taken, by land ambulance, to the same hospital for further checks.
