Armed police were sent to a Stoke-on-Trent road after reports of men brandishing weapons in the neighbourhood. The firearms officers had been scrambled to Fenton after the gang were 'seen in a number of vehicles' in the area.

Now Staffordshire Police say officers are continuing to monitor the neighbourhood. The force had been called at 7.50pm on Sunday (August 2) to City Road, near to Temple Street, to a disturbance.

A spokeswoman told The Sentinel: "A small number of men, reportedly with weapons, were seen in a number of vehicles in the area. Firearms officers attended the scene and a search was carried out. No injuries were reported. Officers continue to monitor the area as our inquiries continue. Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage should call us."

Witnesses are asked to call 101 and quote incident 658 of August 2.
