Fleeing driver hit parked cars in Stoke-on-Trent police chase

Officers are appealing for witnesses

Several cars on Park Street were hit

A fleeing driver smashed into parked cars on a city street during a police chase. Officers had first been called to the outskirts of Tunstall before the pursuit ended around six miles away in Fenton.

Now police say four people got out of the dumped car with the force issuing an appeal for witnesses. Cops were sent to Irene Avenue just after 8pm on July 19.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers carried out checks on the vehicle which showed it had previously been reported as stolen. The driver of the car did not stop for officers and a pursuit took place."

It proceeded to collide with 'several parked cars' on Park Street in Fenton.

The spokeswoman added: "The car collided with several parked cars on Park Street, Fenton. Four people from inside the stolen car made off on foot. Officers thoroughly searched the area but nobody matching the description of the occupants was found."

It's understood a complaint has not been made over the alleged theft - but officers are investigating the fail to stop and collision.

Anyone with relevant CCTV should call 101 and quote incident 833 of July 19.
