Live updates as crews battle more Stoke-on-Trent fires

Emergency services at Park Hall Country Park last night (August 14)

Flames have once again been spotted at a Stoke-on-Trent beauty spot as firefighters continue to experience an 'unprecedented demand'. Last night and readers captured images of another fire at Park Hall Country Park while it's also believed there was a blaze at Weston Sprink, off Weston Coyney Road.

Those incidents came at a time where eight fire engines were at the huge blaze at Sandyford that saw flames engulf the rear of properties and scores of residents evacuated. The blaze at Park Hall came on the same day the fire service had revealed how it had battled blazes there on Tuesday and Thursday - with 12 engines involved across those operations.

Crews sent to the scene had yesterday urged the public to do their bit to stop the huge amount of wildfires. Meanwhile at around 10.35pm last and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had sent six engines to a 'significant fire' at Cannock Chase.

The team was confronted with a fire measuring around 80 metres by 80 metres in the area of Marquis Drive. It later confirmed the blaze was under control but road closures remains and crews were expected to remain at the beauty spot overnight.

Further updates will appear in our dedicated blog below.

Crews remain at Cannock Chase

A spokesperson said: "Two fire crews and a water carrier remain at the scene of a fire on Cannock Chase which started yesterday evening. Crews worked through the night on the fire, which was first reported in the area of Marquis Drive.

"At its peak, a total of eight fire crews attended the fire which spread across an area approximately 80m by 80m. We are continuing to be supported by colleagues Staffordshire Police and the local authority Staffordshire County Council who is providing resources at the scene.

"A number of roads remain closed in the area and drivers are urged to follow diversion routes in place."
