A red route

Double-red lines are set to be installed on two town centre roads. Stoke-on-Trent City Council wants the red routes in Burslem.

It wants double-red lines on Market Street, in Burslem, as well as on a section of Moorland Road, from Westport Road to Jackson Street. A consultation has already been carried out.

Drivers caught contravening the red route rules face 70 fines.

In a social media post, the council stated: "Stoke-on-Trent City Council is proposing the introduction of red routes along Market Street and Moorland Road, from Westport Road to Jackson Street, to help reduce congestion, improve road safety, and keep traffic moving efficiently. Key features of the proposal include replacing existing yellow lines with red route restrictions; no stopping except in designated loading bays and disabled parking areas; loading bays provided to support local businesses; improved traffic flow and reduced delays for all road users; and CCTV enforcement to help ensure compliance."
