Stoke-on-Trent travel alerts as A50 'barely moving' and A500 queues growing

We will bring you all the latest from the road and rail network

Queues on the A50 by Meir Tunnel

Motorists are facing rush-hour queues on the A50 this morning as a lane remains shut off. A manhole reportedly collapsed between Meir and Meir Park earlier this week which has caused huge queues.

The Sentinel reported how police had been sent out to the eastbound stretch on Tuesday morning. Engineers were subsequently dispatched with the outside lane near to the BP garage shut off.

This morning (July 2) and traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting a lane remains shut off. According to Google Map and traffic is barely moving on the eastbound stretch.

Elsewhere this morning and there are delays around Cellarhead lights where Leek Road - towards Wetley Rocks - remains shut due to ongoing works. The A500 is also busy between Audley and the M6.

We will bring you real-time updates from the road and rail network in our dedicated blog below.
