I'm not sure about the SSLSocket._create() change.

I updated the code to replace BlockingIOError with EAGAIN to make the code more regular/less surprising.

Thanks. I wish we had a more cleaner way to know what to ignore in general. Can you add the references (as a comment on the PR) where you found about it? or is an empiric finding? No need to add it inside the sources but just so that we know where to look at in the future...

Alternatively, you can maybe add a regression test to exercise the error code?

Without this change, _create() fails with a BlockingIOError exception on Cygwin. I checked the errno and I found that it's EAGAIN.

Alternatively, you can maybe add a regression test to exercise the error code?

I don't see an existing test for getpeername() failure code path in SSLSocket._create(). Writing such test sounds tricky and may rely on internal implementation details. I prefer to skip the test for now.

With this change, test_ssl now pass on the main branch on Cygwin.

Hi! The buildbot iOS ARM64 Simulator 3.x (tier-3) has failed when building commit 0065d22.

test_asyncio.test_sock_lowlevel: test_sock_client_racing() failed. It's unrelated to this change.

tests: skip test_requests on Cygwin

On our Cygwin CI pipeline, python 3.9 was updated from 3.9.16-1 to 3.9.25-1
some time between August 23rd and August 30th 2026. The new release
includes python/cpython@264b1da, which
breaks `ssl.SSLContext.wrap_socket()` on Cygwin, due to not handling
Cygwin-specific `errno` for unconnected sockets. Same issue is also
present in Cygwin-packaged python 3.12.12-1.

Upstream CPython has merged a fix [1] in `main`, but until that finds
its way into a Cygwin-packaged python (either via new upstream release
or back-port of the fix into Cygwin packages), we should skip the
now-broken `test_requests` on Cygwin.
