Take a tour of MacStudio
Your MacStudio is packed with advanced technologies. If youre not sure which MacStudio you have, see the Apple Support article Identify your Mac Studio model.
[The front of Mac Studio showing two USB-C ports, the SDXC card slot, and the status indicator light.]USB-C (Thunderbolt 5 or USB 3) ports: Use the two USB-C ports on the front of MacStudio to connect to external storage devices or charge devices such as an iPad or a rechargeable keyboard, mouse, or trackpad. On MacStudio with the M3 Ultra chip, these ports are Thunderbolt 5, so you can transfer data at Thunderbolt 5 speeds with a Thunderbolt cable (sold separately) or connect an external display. On MacStudio with the M4 Max chip, these ports support USB 3 (up to 10 Gbit/s).
SDXC Card slot: Transfer photos, videos, and data to and from your MacStudio, with support for high-capacity SD 4.0 cards.
Status indicator light: The status indicator light on the front of MacStudio shows a steady white light when your MacStudio is awake or in sleep; when theres no light, your MacStudio is turned off.
[The back of Mac Studio showing four Thunderbolt5 (USB-C) ports, the Gigabit Ethernet port, the power port, two USB-A ports, the HDMI port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the power button.]Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) ports: Transfer data at Thunderbolt 5 speeds, connect to a display or projector, connect to USB 4 peripherals, and more. See Connect a display to MacStudio.
10 Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45) port: The 10 Gigabit Ethernet port can use Nbase-T Ethernet technology, which supports multiple data rates for speeds up to 10 Gbit/s over standard twisted-pair copper cable up to 328 feet (100 meters) in length. Depending on the device youre connecting to, the cable type and technology used, and the cable length, the highest link speed is automatically negotiated. For example, if the device youre connecting to is 10 Gbit/s-capable and the cable can support that speed, the two devices negotiate the 10 Gbit/s speed.
See the following table for connection speeds and cable types. Speeds are for cables up to 328 feet (100 meters) in length, unless otherwise specified.
Cable Type | 1 Gbit/s | 2.5 Gbit/s | 5 Gbit/s | 10 Gbit/s |
