Ukraine: Clive Myrie appears to shed a tear during live report

BBCs Clive Myrie has said that he vows to return to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after escaping during the invasion.

Myrie announced his safe return to London to concerned fans on Twitter.

The journalist has been reporting from inside the conflict zone since the attacks began and tweeted out his thanks for his followers.

He wanted to say a quick thank you for the support and well wishes he received whilst in Kyiv, and finished his message off by saying he will return to the city.

He recently tweeted out a heartbreaking message about the current conflict in Ukraine after his narrow escape from the citys capital.

Clive was reporting for BBC News in Kyiv amid the devastation and remained there until he was forced to leave at the last moment, before the capital was over-run.

Myrie took to Twitter to share his journey out of Kyiv and posted pictures of the traffic from the vehicle he escaped in, a snapshot of panicked Ukrainians fleeing their home.

The picture showed a dark road with lorries and cars surrounding his vehicle as he travelled into the night to get to safety.

In the caption, he wrote: It was a long day of driving and queuing to get out of Kyiv. Imagine having to leave all you know in a hurry because youre being shelled.

He continued on: What do you pack? Do pets come too? Its freezing cold and you pray that those in neighbouring countries will welcome you, not despise you!

Clive offered his thoughts to the one million whove fled Ukraine because they might be killed, but also to the millions who fled Syria and the many other millions escaping repression, poverty and war.
