Football fan rates pies and pints in stadiums across world and Prem club comes fourth

A pie and a pint is a staple of a football game - and one dedicated fan has taken that to the extreme by touring Europe to find the best on offer

Football-mad Daniel McNeice told how hes travelled the world visiting more than 60 stadiums, watching more than 100 matches - to rate their pies and pints!

As well as travelling across the UK, Daniel has jetted to six European countries including, Germany, Italy and Portugal, as well as even visiting Vietnam. In all, he reckons hes clocked up over 10,000 miles, spent around 2,000, drunk over 60 pints and eaten around 60 pies.

He said: The total for grounds that Ive been to is around 60. I know for games in total, its 109 and counting! We always try to find something unique about each place to try and eat but, if we cant get a pie and theres something that is so special and so different, well go for that instead.

One thing led to another and now, I drink pints! Daniel found his love for football 10 years ago after visiting The Completely-Suzuki Stadium, to see Cheltenham Town play AFC Wimbledon, and ever since then he has found it difficult to turn down a game.

As he got older, Daniel started visiting more and more grounds across the country and the pie-lover came up with the idea of rating the food of each club that he visits. Then, for every ground that he went to, Daniel started ranking the food out of 10 and he aimed to have a pie in every stadium he visited.

However, sometimes, the British delicacy was not on the menu and he would have to expand his taste buds onto the next best items available. After visiting a hatful of grounds with his friends, and after many pies, Daniel decided to push the boat out and travel to some European grounds to see what food they have to offer!

Now he has visited Germany, Vietnam, Italy, Sweden, Gibraltar, Holland and Portugal in his quest to search for the best grounds. Along the way, he has been documenting his travels with his mates with a social media account called Pie & Ball.

Daniel even developed a love for pints along the way and the previously alcohol-free footie fan now loves a beer at the game with his friends. He said: For someone who has been to so many football games now because obviously, Ive made up another 108 in that time. I dont think people would really expect me to have gone to my first one so late.

I love it so much. I didnt think I would love it so much beforehand but honestly, it is everything, like going into whatever place Im going to next is always exciting, whether its near or far, its a new experience. I dont actually like going somewhere twice, because I want to see someone new!

Football is different wherever you go. Its just the thing that is beautiful about it. I think thats why so many people are so into it, and why Im so much into it. I wouldnt ever tire of visiting games, because its just an atmosphere that you dont get anywhere else ready.

At first, my dad said, why are you going to these non-league games, youre wasting your time? My point of view is just like you dont know, you have to go and enjoy yourself to see what its like! My favourite stadium that Ive visited is Benficas stadium (Est dio da Luz, officially named Est dio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica).

Ive wanted to go there for a long time so it was really good. A lovely stadium, great facilities, great atmosphere. I think overall, thats probably the most fun Ive had again. In terms of pure pie, I would actually say it was Stockport Town! Theyre sort of linked to Stockport County, but their pie there was really good.
