Diablo 4 fans may have been a little disappointed to hear that the game's second expansion isn't slated until 2026, but given how fun its seventh season of content has been, we're happy to wait it out.
With Blizzard confirming the return of Blizzcon, there's a good chance we'll hear more about the expansion before launch, but the company has now confirmed there's much more to enjoy before then.
Revealing the first Diablo 4 roadmap yesterday, it appears 2025 will end up full of things to do (and slay) in Sanctuary here's all we've learned.
In a new blog post, Blizzard has confirmed that "Throughout 2025, you will experience the spread of Mephistos influence through new seasonal themes and questlines as we draw closer to the release of our second expansion in 2026."
Blizzard is calling this roadmap the "Age of Hatred", which runs from Diablo 4's launch right up to the new expansion next year.
The game is currently in the Season of Witchcraft, which introduced major updates like the Armory, but between April and July fans can look forward to 'Belial's Return'.
This update, seemingly Season 8, will introduce new Boss Powers, an 'Apparition Incursion' activity, and another new earnable pet. It'll also introduce new Lair Bosses, Reliquaries, and a rather nebulous "Season Journey Update", plus a two-year anniversary event.
July's update, dubbed Sins of the Horadrim and likely Season 9, will introduce new Horadric Powers, a Dungeon Escalation, and another earnable pet, as well as new Nightmare Dungeon activities and the long-awaited arrival of keyboard and mouse support on console.
Finally, for 2025, Infernal Chaos brings Chaos Powers, an Infernal Hordes Update and, you guessed it, another pet. Blizzard promises there's "more to come", too, before 2026 introduces an expansion, ranking system, leaderboards and surely a new class (or are we being greedy?).
Curiously, there are two 'IP Collabs' listed for Seasons 8 and 10, which will seemingly act as crossovers. We've already had World of Warcraft items, but Blizzard isn't ready to tell just yet.
"We cant shed light on them currently, but were extremely excited to meld the Diablo universe with universes that complement its dark themes." Place your bets, folks.
Excited for more Diablo 4, or have you switched to Path of Exile 2? Let us know!
