Big Brother legend Nicola McLean has slammed the shows new sensible approach to the long-running reality show.

Specifically to housemate's booze allowance, as they're typically only allowed two drinks a night nowadays. She claims its drained all the fun out of the iconic reality series.

The former glamour model and CBB star didnt hold back as she told the Daily Star that limiting the booze has ruined the wild, unpredictable energy that made Big Brother must-see TV.

I think Ive lived unapologetically myself, Nicola said in a exclusive chat in collaboration with WhichBingo. Maybe I wouldnt get as drunk on Big Brother as I did, but you know what? It was f****** fun at the time.

The 44-year-old mum-of-two, who appeared on both Celebrity Big Brother and Im A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, says producers have become too cautious in a bid to avoid controversy, but its come at a cost.

Its such a shame theyve capped the drinks, she continued. It really has killed it. You know, this sensible drinking is really boring. The whole not drinking business these days is just dull.

Nicola appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in the years 2012 and 2017. She also made a special guest appearance during a shopping task in a regular Big Brother series in 2018.

The reality star, never one to shy away from saying what she thinks, insists viewers loved the mayhem, the messy moments and the unfiltered personalities that the old format delivered.

Back in the day, it was about being yourself, having fun, and letting things happen naturally. Now it feels like everyones walking on eggshells, she added.

The fiery star says she wouldnt change her own time in the house, even if she did go a bit wild. I had the best time. It was real, it was honest, and people loved it for that, she said.

While Big Brothers current reboot has won praise for being more inclusive and mindful, Nicola reckons its lost its edge and the spark that made the series iconic.

Big Brother airs from Sunday to Friday at 9pm.
