An evil villain from Death in Paradise makes their Emmerdale debut this week
Emmerdale: Charity asks Vanessa to come home
Emmerdale has signed up a star from Death in Paradise in a Charity Dingle twist. Charity (Emma Atkins) has had a dramatic time on the ITV soap in recent months. Earlier this year she was the victim of a vile sexual assault by evil Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) who blackmailed her over the true parentage of Leyla Sugden.
The sinister doctor departed the village to take up a new position in Sheffield, while Charity continued to struggle in the wake of the attack. This week though, Dr Todd was accidentally killed by Charitys granddaughter Sarah (Katie Hill) after witnessing her showdown with Charity. Although Charity and Sarah got mysterious newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) to help them come up with a plan to tell the police, in Tuesdays (August 11) episode, new character, DS Ramsden, rocked up to start the investigation.
And it turns out DS Ramsden is played by Chelsea Edge who is best known for her role in BBCs Death in Paradise. She played Sophie Chambers who was the girlfriend of DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little) in the drama.
Her role on the long-running detective series as Sophie saw her rock up as backpacker and quickly start a romance with DI Neville. However, things took a dramatic turn.
Sophie went on to frame Neville for the death of criminologist David Cartwright (Patrick Kennedy). Chelsea appeared on the programme for 7 episodes from 2022 to 2023.
As for her stint on Emmerdale, Chelseas character DS Ramsden is convinced that she's not getting the whole story from Charity and Sarah and is determined to find out the truth.
Actress Chelseas other TV credits include Sky comedy Brassic alongside Michelle Keegan, 2020s I Hate Suzie and the BBC drama Reunion that aired last year.
Meanwhile speaking previously about her character on Death in Paradise, Sophie previously explained: "When you go on holiday you have a little crush and you know it's not going to last forever.
But I think she has such a soft spot for him and coming away from it she's trying to be a realist coming back, she's like, 'How have I left this incredible island and this guy I really like.' She doesn't want to let it go."
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX
