Kris Marshall has spoken about his future on Beyond Paradise and revealed the storyline request he keeps making to BBC bosses, describing it as a "mad little show". Kris, widely recognised for portraying Nick Harper in the BBC sitcom My Family, stars as Detective Humphrey Goodman in the cosy crime drama.
Now in its fourth season, Beyond Paradise returns to our screens tonight, and Kris has teased what lies ahead for the series and his own career, as radio host Chris Evans suggested BBC producers could "stir it up"
The actor shared these insights during the 20 April edition of The Chris Evans Show on Virgin Radio. In the interview, Chris probed him about pursuing other roles, but the star indicated that nothing else is currently on the horizon beyond filming the next series of Beyond Paradise.
He explained: "I'm really happy where I am at the moment. Coz, yeah...coz I love the show, and I love the storylines. And it's quite a mad little show, and I love it."

Studio voices pressed for further information, with one person urging: "Tell us." While Kris initially held back, he did offer: "Well, I mean, how long can a marriage last?", potentially alluding to the relationship between Humphrey and his spouse Martha Lloyd (portrayed by Sally Bretton).
People in the studio erupted in celebration of the potential drama, but Kris followed up: "I'm kidding, I'm kidding." Chris teased the actor that he was "so not kidding", to which the Love Actually star confirmed that he wouldn't "give away" spoilers.
Steering the conversation in a new direction, the radio host enquired whether Kris had ever attempted to "wheedle" things that he enjoys into the storyline. Kris responded: "I'm always like, 'Let's get us a surfing episode. We haven't had one of those yet'.

When asked whether he brings his surfboard along for use during his spare time, Kris confirmed that he does, revealing he owns three of them.
In related news, Kris has spoken about the "complaints" some viewers have raised regarding the programme. Beyond Paradise has become something of an international hit , attracting audiences from North America, Canada and Australia.
Appearing on the TV Reload podcast in 2025, host Benjamin Morris highlighted that it was Australian viewers who had raised concerns.
He explained: "You're on a show now that's so popular that when I was doing the research for this, there were people in Australia complaining, 'We're delayed', I can't remember what exact time.
"You know you're on a good show when the complaint is, 'We ain't getting it fast enough'." Kris responded: "I've read a couple of those complaints myself. I think the last series, season three, ended about two or three weeks ago, so a few weeks behind the UK but not too much really and we will begin filming again soon."
Catch Beyond Paradise tonight (April 24) on BBC One, from 8pm to 9pm.
